About

Circular Floating Districts is a Dutch registered concept design- and development company of living, working and recreational environments on the water. We devise future-proof and innovative circular floating living concepts. Circular Floating Districts is an initiative of the duo Willem Jan Landman and Michiel Zwart. With each having their own specialism, they are at the basis of the developments.

Willem Jan (1978) is an architect and professional sailor. The Sailing Architect who managed to bring his both passions together. As an architect and business developer Willem Jan has worked for renowned architects and founded Willand in 2018. From Willand he works on Business & Concept Development and Circular Floating Districts is a brand of Willand. In sailing, he leads the training institute Holland Ocean Racing with Hans Bouscholte.

Michiel (1978) is a naval architect and passionate sailor and water sports enthusiast. Michiel has worked for several well-known shipyards in various disciplines. He is also the designer of a dozen houseboats in the Netherlands.

VLOAT® is our first published concept of floating housing.

Thomas Dieben and Oscar Vos of krft Architects are our co-creation partners involved in the further development of the concepts of “VLOAT®”.

In addition, we work together with several experts in order to achieve optimal results. These include Allen & Overy, IGG Bouweconomie, Traject, Energie-Positief and Raaf&Wolf.
